Clandestine Grave Identification

Updated: May 2, 2023

04/21/2023

As part of our ongoing commitment to advancing technology in the field of public safety, AFRS is set to evaluate various technologies in 2023, including the use of drones, to help identify unmarked graves and remains of victims.

This cutting-edge technology has demonstrated that the remains of missing persons may be detectable up to two years after an incident has occurred.

We are optimistic that the evaluation of this new technology, particularly the use of drones, will significantly enhance the ability to solve cold cases and provide closure to affected families.

We rely on the generosity of our community to continue our mission and bring innovative technologies like this to Ohio and beyond. Donations are always appreciated!

UPDATE 05/01/2023 A tragic discovery in another state clearly indicates the need to expand this technology for public safety use.

If events like this happen in Ohio, we need to be prepared to augment municipalities with the tools they need to succeed.
