In today’s rapidly evolving world of electronics, even consumer-grade devices like drones can pose serious risks during large public events. For example, drones flying near fireworks displays can create dangerous situations — a firework mortar could strike a drone mid-air, potentially redirecting it into a crowd and causing serious injuries.
Beyond fireworks, any large gathering of people requires heightened safety measures, including advanced drone monitoring to ensure a secure environment for everyone in attendance.
This year, the team at AFRS.US was proud to support the City of Xenia’s fireworks display by providing cutting-edge Counter UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) technology. Our mobile system allowed us to instantly detect and track drone activity in real time, identify pilot locations, and create a detailed audit trail of flight data. This critical information can assist enforcement teams in investigating and responding to unsafe or illegal drone operations.
Below, you can view a live clip from the event showing a fire department drone launched after the fireworks display. The drone used thermal imaging to check for potential hot spots, helping to prevent post-event fires and ensure public safety.
At AFRS.US, we are committed to helping communities and organizations enhance situational awareness, protect critical infrastructure, safeguard hospital helicopter landing zones, and more.
If your community or organization is interested in improving safety and operational readiness, we invite you to connect with us at social@afrs.us. Our team is ready to help you strengthen your capabilities and protect what matters most.
